Mexico Finance Secretary denies UIF investigations into López Beltrán

Mexico's Secretary of Finance, Édgar Amador Zamora, testified before the Senate that the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) is not currently conducting investigations into Andrés Manuel López Beltrán or business associates accused of proximity to the son of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

During the hearing, Senator Mayuli Martínez Simón raised concerns regarding a suspected network involving public contracts, influence peddling, and fuel smuggling. The senator linked several individuals, including businessman Amílcar Olán, to alleged business dealings totaling approximately 49 billion pesos involving sectors such as Pemex, the Maya Train, and medical supplies.

Amador clarified that the UIF acts as a collaborator in judicial and administrative proceedings and applies its criteria uniformly without exceptions. He noted that, at present, there are no active investigations by the Attorney General's Office (FGR) regarding the specific allegations presented by the opposition.
