Mexico finds lone unauthorized US intelligence agent in Chihuahua

Mexico's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced that a single U.S. intelligence operative was identified operating in the state of Chihuahua without prior notification to Mexican authorities. She noted that about 250 foreign security and intelligence agents, including U.S. personnel, are regularly authorized in Mexico and must submit monthly activity reports, most of whom comply with the law.

Sheinbaum said the government will not request the removal of U.S. agents to avoid diplomatic confrontation, emphasizing the need for coordination with Washington while protecting Mexican sovereignty.
