Mexico fines bus lane violators as Morebús construction begins

The Hidalgo state mobility authority announced that within a week it will start issuing fines to drivers who use the exclusive Tuzobús lane in Pachuca, Mineral de la Reforma and Zempoala. Fines range from 20 to 30 UMA, equivalent to more than 3,000 pesos, after a period of flexible enforcement during road‑modernisation works.

In Morelia, Michoacán, the municipal mobility department began work on a confined lane for the Morebús system, closing a stretch of Avenida Madero near the Monument to Lázaro Cárdenas. Concrete will replace the existing pavement, and detour routes have been set up to keep traffic flowing while public‑transport vehicles retain priority on the avenue.

Both projects aim to improve safety and reliability of public‑transport corridors and include public‑awareness campaigns to encourage compliance with the new exclusive‑lane rules.
