Mexico gasoline prices dip slightly as government adjusts fuel tax
On 31 July 2026 the Mexican government raised its contribution to the IEPS fuel tax after a weekly rise in international oil prices following recent U.S.–Iran tensions. The national average price for Magna gasoline fell to 23.69 pesos per litre, Premium to 28.52 pesos and diesel to 27.04 pesos. Regional data showed Magna at 23.80 pesos in Mexico City, 23.97 pesos in Jalisco and 24.07 pesos in Nuevo León, with corresponding Premium and diesel prices varying by a few cents.
In Hermosillo, the Comisión Reguladora de Energía reported on 30 July 2026 that the average Magna price was 23.95 pesos, Premium 29.09 pesos and diesel 26.95 pesos per litre. The report listed the lowest‑priced stations, such as ROLIGAS at 21.99 pesos for Magna, and highlighted a price spread of up to 2.90 pesos per litre between the cheapest and most expensive pumps, underscoring potential savings for local motorists.
