Mexico gears up for 2026 ANTP Transport Forum and telematics regulation push

Mexico is set to host the 26th National Freight Transport Forum (FORO ANTP) from 8–11 July 2026 at the Paradisus Cancún. Organized by the National Association of Private Transport (ANTP), the event will gather industry leaders, government officials, and technology providers to discuss logistics competitiveness, road safety, sustainability and digital innovation. The agenda features panels on regulatory frameworks, vehicle renewal, secure cargo transport and resilient supply chains, with participants from manufacturers such as Scania, Volkswagen, Kenworth, Daimler Trucks, Volvo, and tech firms like Geotab and Samsara.

In parallel, Mexico’s transport regulator is reviewing NOM‑012, the standard that would require double‑articulated trucks to be equipped with GPS telemetry. Drawing on Australia’s National Telematics Framework and ISO‑15638 sections, officials aim to create a compliance‑focused system rather than a punitive one. The proposal follows discussions at the International Transport Forum summit in Leipzig, where recommendations on digitalising freight‑transport connectivity and urban transport development were adopted. These efforts seek to strengthen Mexico’s freight‑transport compliance and modernise its logistics sector.
