Mexico's Diesel Price Stabilization Hits 83% Coverage as 435 Stations Join Voluntary Pact

The Mexican government announced that 435 additional gas stations have signed the Voluntary Agreement for Diesel Price Stabilization, bringing the total number of participating stations to 8,481 – about 83 % of all stations nationwide. The agreement has kept the average diesel price below 27 pesos per litre across most of the country and under 25.39 pesos per litre in border zones where an 8 % reduced VAT applies.

Authorities noted that 1,721 stations still sell diesel at significantly higher rates and have been urged to join the pact. The government continues to support the scheme with fiscal stimuli on the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS), cooperation with the Mexican banking association to lower electronic payment fees, and Pemex’s supply of competitively priced fuel and last‑mile logistics. Ongoing market monitoring aims to protect consumers and maintain price stability for vulnerable sectors.
