Mexico government website gob.mx suffers temporary outage

The official website of the Mexican government, gob.mx, experienced a temporary service interruption on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The outage affected access to various federal agencies, digital procedures, and public information portals.

The Agencia de Transformación Digital y Telecomunicaciones attributed the downtime to a connectivity cut rather than a cyberattack or security breach. The agency initially estimated a recovery period of approximately 25 minutes. Service was reported to have returned to normal around 17:45 hours.

Several high-profile institutions were impacted by the outage, including the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the Financial Intelligence Unit, and various financial regulatory bodies such as the CNBV, Condusef, and IPAB. The tourism sector, including Sectur and Fonatur, also saw website disruptions. However, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) and the National Customs Agency of Mexico remained operational during the incident.
