Mexico‑Tulancingo highway truck overturn sparks jeans looting in Axapusco

On 4 August 2026 a heavy truck transporting thousands of denim jeans overturned on the Mexico‑Tulancingo highway near the municipality of Axapusco, State of Mexico. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. The spill of clothing attracted dozens of motorists and local residents who began seizing the merchandise despite the presence of National Guard and state police who had cordoned off the site.

The incident caused a partial closure of the highway and traffic delays for several hours while high‑capacity cranes removed the wreckage. Authorities later opened investigations into the cause of the crash and the looting, but no arrests had been reported at the time of the reports.
