Olinia project seeks 950 million pesos in private investment
The Mexican Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation (Secihti), in coordination with Nacional Financiera (Nafin), has opened a call for private investors to join the Olinia project. The initiative seeks to raise 950 million pesos in foundational capital to develop, manufacture, and commercialize a line of electric vehicles designed by Mexican researchers.
The investment structure dictates that the federal government will hold a minority stake of at least 33.33% but no more than 50%. Private investors can hold between 50.1% and 66.67% of the company. The government's contribution includes cash, in-kind assets, and intellectual property, valued at approximately 167.9 million pesos.
The Olinia vehicle line includes three models: a passenger vehicle (Olinia 1), a cargo version with 650 kg capacity, and an Olinia Van. The selection process for investors, which evaluates technical and commercial capacity alongside financial solidity, is scheduled to conclude by January 29, 2027.
In a related cultural event, the Lotería Nacional is holding a special draw dedicated to Olinia. The commemorative lottery ticket features the three vehicle designs, aiming to connect the technological project with Mexican tradition.
