Mexico hosts book presentation on Fidel Castro's legacy

A new edition of the book ‘Fidel en el imaginario mexicano’ (Fidel in the Mexican Imaginary) was presented at the Mexican Chamber of Deputies in San Lázaro. The volume compiles 30 testimonies from Mexicans who had close contact with the Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

During the event, Dolores Padierna Luna, vice-coordinator of the Morena caucus, described the relationship between Mexico and Cuba as a ‘true brotherhood’ based on a shared struggle for justice and sovereignty. She also criticized United States interference and the blockade against Cuba, noting that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has warned of deteriorating humanitarian conditions on the island, including shortages of medicine and increased infant mortality.

Cuban Ambassador to Mexico, Eugenio Martínez Enríquez, expressed gratitude for the tribute to Castro and characterized the book as an ‘exceptional compilation’ of personal accounts regarding the leader's impact on Mexico.
