Mexico hosts events to celebrate National Xoloitzcuintle Day and support animal shelters
Various regional events in Mexico are scheduled to celebrate canine culture and support animal welfare. In Tijuana, the Canódromo Caliente will host the first National Xoloitzcuintle Day celebration on October 27. The event features activities such as canine yoga, speed races, and educational talks regarding the historical, biological, and anthropological importance of the ancestral Xoloitzcuintle breed.
In Jojutla, Morelos, the Croquetón 2026 is set for October 24. This initiative aims to collect balanced pet food for local animal shelters that rescue street dogs. The event includes a family walk and a canine costume contest inspired by Day of the Dead traditions, with cash prizes offered for the most creative outfits.
