Mexico hosts youth baseball and basketball tournaments in early June

From June 4‑7, the Estadio Álvaro Obregón in Culiacán will host the fourth edition of the Liga Mexicana del Pacífico (LMP) Youth Baseball Tournament. Ten professional clubs will field players aged 11‑12, with a group draw overseen by LMP President Salvador Escobar and Club Yaquis officials. The event includes a home‑run derby and aims to showcase future talent for Mexican baseball.

From June 5‑7, Tampico, Tamaulipas, will stage the TS Basketball Cup, featuring more than 115 teams — about 70 from other Mexican states — competing in male and female categories for ages 6‑18. Organisers highlighted a special indigenous team from Oaxaca and noted the tournament’s economic boost for the region, with temporary jobs for referees and staff and scholarships for the top three finishers.
