Mexico identifies 175 billion pesos for mobility and road safety in 2027 budget
The Mobility Commission of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies has approved a favorable opinion on the 2027 Federal Expenditure Budget Project (PPEF). For the first time, the budget includes ‘Annex 32’, titled ‘Actions for Mobility and Road Safety’, which identifies 175,045 million pesos.
The Commission clarified that this amount does not represent new funding but rather aggregates existing resources distributed across nine different budgetary branches. Approximately 99.56% of these funds are concentrated in the sectors of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport; National Defense; and Public Education. The remaining funds are allocated to road accident prevention, medical care, pedestrian and cyclist mobility, public transport, protection for vulnerable users, and electromobility.
The implementation of Annex 32 aims to establish a baseline for tracking public spending on mobility and evaluating the achievement of specific goals through quarterly reports and performance evaluation systems. The legislative opinion also emphasizes the need to strengthen methodologies to prevent duplication and develop indicators to measure public policy results.
