Mexico implements early childhood education initiatives in Colima and Guanajuato
Educational authorities in Mexico are implementing various initiatives to strengthen early childhood development through play-based learning and community support.
In Colima, the Secretaría de Educación y Cultura conducted a workshop titled ‘Estrategias lúdicas para lograr aprendizajes significativos en la primera infancia’. Led by specialist Bernardo Manuel Aguilar Montiel, the training aimed to provide educators with tools to design age-appropriate play strategies aligned with the principles of the Nueva Escuela Mexicana. The program focuses on strengthening the practices of federalized, state, and community educational agents.
In Guanajuato, Secretary of Education Luis Ignacio Sánchez Gómez visited Community Centers for Early Childhood Care (CCAPI) in León. These free centers serve children from 45 days to 3 years of age, providing guidance on respectful parenting, language development, motor skills, and socio-emotional abilities through play. Guanajuato currently operates 48 such centers to support child health, nutrition, and integral development.
