Bolivia and Paraguay advance energy and water infrastructure projects

In Bolivia, the Mayor of Tarija, Johnny Torres, and the Governor of Chuquisaca, Luis Ayllón, are coordinating the El Carrizal hydroelectric project. The initiative aims to generate 300 megawatts, potentially meeting a quarter of the national peak demand. The project, estimated at $300 million, seeks to diversify Bolivia's energy matrix away from fossil fuels and could eventually allow for energy exports to neighboring countries.

In Paraguay, the Yacyretá Binational Entity (EBY) has launched several water infrastructure projects. In the Repatriación community of Itapúa, the EBY began drilling a deep well to provide secure water to approximately 150 families. Additionally, in the San Isidro sector, a new well is being executed to increase water flow and ensure a permanent supply for several residential stages, addressing previous shortages in the area.

Furthermore, the state oil company YPFB is investing $9 million to drill the SRB NO-6 development well in the Surubí-Mamoré field. This project aims to increase oil reserves by targeting the Yantata and Lower Petaca reservoirs.

In Tarija, Bolivia, local authorities have also initiated the construction of collectors and septic chambers in District 9, benefiting over 2,000 people through a tripartite investment model involving the municipality, neighbors, and Cosaalt.
