Mexico implements regional programs to promote active aging for seniors
Various regional initiatives in Mexico are focusing on promoting active aging and health for the elderly population.
In Hidalgo, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) held an active aging encounter in Tepeapulco. The PrevenIMSS educational strategy aims to support seniors aged 60 and older by fostering self-care, preventing falls and chronic diseases, and strengthening physical and mental health. The program includes functional assessments, cognitive stimulation, and emotional regulation training to improve quality of life and independence.
In Querétaro, the State DIF System organized a state sports encounter for seniors in Corregidora. More than 350 participants competed in disciplines including walking, running, cachibol, swimming, dominoes, and chess. The event is designed to encourage autonomy, combat age discrimination, and provide social participation spaces for the elderly.
