Tamaulipas hits summer tourism record with 2.3 million visitors
Tamaulipas has reached a new record for summer tourism, with over 2.3 million visitors recorded during the current vacation period. This represents a 25.12% increase compared to the same period in 2025, when the state saw 1.9 million visitors.
According to Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, the Secretary of Tourism for Tamaulipas, these visitors have generated an economic impact exceeding 2.216 billion pesos. The state government, led by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, is attributing this growth to improved security perceptions, infrastructure transformations, and enhanced connectivity, including strategic works such as the Mante-Ocampo-Tula highway.
Playa Miramar in Ciudad Madero is the most visited destination, hosting 1.1 million visitors and generating over 1 billion pesos. Other top destinations include Tampico with over 513,000 visitors, Soto la Marina with more than 141,000, Nuevo Laredo with over 121,000, and Altamira with more than 95,000 visitors.
