Mexico increases cruise passenger fees to $10

Mexico has implemented a phased increase in immigration fees for foreign cruise passengers. As of August 1, the fee rose from $5 to $10 per passenger. This charge applies to major ports including Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, and Costa Maya.

The current implementation follows negotiations between the Mexican government and the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association to establish a gradual schedule rather than an immediate full collection. While lawmakers previously authorized a fee of approximately $42, the government is introducing the charge in stages to provide certainty for the cruise industry and travelers.

Future scheduled increases include a rise to $15 on July 1, 2027, and a final planned increase to $21 on August 1, 2028.
