Mexico-Japan Rectors Summit focuses on scientific cooperation
Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), participated as a moderator and co-chair in the 7th Mexico-Japan Rectors Summit held at the University of Tsukuba in Japan. The event brought together university and government authorities from both nations to foster scientific and technological cooperation.
During the summit, Anaya Alvarado led discussions on social infrastructure, renewable energy, and technology. He emphasized the need for common agendas in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, and sustainable resource management. The summit aimed to address global challenges through advanced science and technology, involving 35 universities from Mexico and Japan.
The meeting was organized by the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES), the Mexican Embassy in Japan, and Japanese ministries. Key participating institutions included the University of Tsukuba, Kyoto University, and various Mexican research centers such as CIATEJ, CIATEC, and CentroGeo.
