Mexico keeps gasoline price at 24 pesos per litre, says President Sheinbaum

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that Mexico will maintain the retail gasoline price at 24 pesos per litre and diesel at 27 pesos, despite rising international oil prices caused by Middle‑East tensions. She said the government will use fiscal tools such as temporary fuel tax reductions and additional revenue from Pemex’s “Derecho del Bienestar” – a share of the state oil company's higher export earnings – to offset any external price shocks and protect household purchasing power.

Monitoring data for Hermosillo on 17 July 2026 shows the policy in practice: Magna gasoline averaged 23.89 pesos per litre, premium 29.04 pesos and diesel 27.00 pesos, reflecting the national price caps while some stations reported higher or lower rates within the allowed range.
