Mexico launches hearing‑aid distribution and free sign‑language courses for deaf community

In Mexicali, Baja California, the municipal government partnered with Fundación MVS Radio and Cadena Comercial OXXO to distribute 200 hearing‑aid devices through the "Ponte Oreja" program. Mayor Norma Bustamante highlighted the collaboration with the local DIF office, noting that the devices will be handed out from July 8‑10 at the Melchor Ocampo Community Development Center.

Separately, the State of Mexico’s Institute for Disability (IMEDIS) announced a free virtual Mexican Sign Language (LSM) course for people aged 12 and older. The basic level begins on July 31 and the intermediate level on August 1, each lasting two months. Registration is handled through the CAPIMEDIS platform, and the program aims to improve communication and inclusion for deaf individuals.

Both initiatives are intended to enhance accessibility and quality of life for the hearing‑impaired population in Mexico.
