Mexico launches initiatives to promote active aging for seniors

Various initiatives in Mexico are targeting the well-being and active aging of the elderly population. In Yucatán, the Sistema DIF Yucatán organized the 13th edition of the Expo Personas Adultas Mayores “Renacer desde Nuestras Raíces”. The event featured over 40 institutions providing free services, including cultural, sports, and recreational activities designed to promote healthy aging and social integration.

Simultaneously, Smart Fit México has partnered with the National Institute for Older Persons (INAPAM) to launch the “Más movimiento, más independencia” program. This initiative aims to improve mobility and autonomy for individuals over 60. The program includes community physical activation sessions and offers specialized classes and discounts to reduce barriers to exercise for seniors, addressing the fact that a significant portion of the elderly population in Mexico lives with mobility-related disabilities.
