Mexico launches massive Rita Cetina scholarship card distribution
Mexico's Bienestar program has begun a nationwide operation to deliver almost 7 million Rita Centina cards, which provide a 2,500‑peso support for school uniforms and supplies to primary‑school students. The rollout, coordinated by national program head Julio León, will run from May through July, with distribution taking place directly at schools across all states.
In Nuevo León, more than 380 000 students are slated to receive the cards, with over 225 000 plastic cards expected to be handed out at more than 2 200 schools between 21 May and 31 July. Eligibility requires official identification, recent proof of address, CURP and birth certificates for both the tutor and the student. Families are advised to check school notices for exact dates and to beware of fraud.
The program, part of the larger Becas Bienestar initiative, aims to ensure children have the resources needed for the upcoming school year and will expand to additional grade levels in future phases.
