Mexico launches national labor inspection plan for holiday season

The Mexican Ministry of Labor announced a National Inspection Plan for the vacation period, deploying around 700 inspectors across the country's 14 departments. The operation will verify compliance with labor laws on benefits, working hours, overtime pay, tip distribution and other obligations, with special focus on sectors that surge during holidays such as restaurants, hotels, private security and cleaning services. Minister of Labor Rolando Castro said night‑time inspections will also be added to broaden coverage.

In Quintana Roo, the state‑level "Obra Segura" operation inspected more than 2,800 construction workers and 30 companies at the Costa Mujeres tourist complex. Inspectors detected alleged drug use by three workers, leading to their dismissal, and detained one individual for alleged resistance. The operation also checked motorcycles and vehicles as part of broader security measures.
