Sheinbaum announces health system modernization and housing aid in Yucatán

President Claudia Sheinbaum has announced a comprehensive modernization plan for Mexico’s public health systems, including the IMSS, ISSSTE, and IMSS-Bienestar. The initiative aims to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and implement a digital revolution to optimize the distribution of medicines and medical supplies. Sheinbaum noted that while resources are sufficient, outdated administrative processes have caused delays in delivering purchased supplies from warehouses to hospitals.

To execute this, a specialized team of young Mexican professionals from public universities will be tasked with automating inventory management and logistics. The President has also initiated a series of unannounced hospital visits to directly assess the needs of patients and medical staff.

In Yucatán, the administration highlighted significant social programs. This includes the delivery of 432 new homes in the Punta Cruz Eco development and the liquidation of 658 unpayable FOVISSSTE credits. Additionally, the government announced plans to build a Health University in Umán, which will offer degrees in Medicine and Nursing through the Rosario Castellanos University.
