Mexico mandates registration of all mobile phone lines by June 30, 2026

Mexico's federal government has ordered that every active mobile phone line be linked to an individual's or legal entity's identity. Users must complete the registration by 30 June 2026, using a government portal or visiting a carrier's customer‑service center.

The process requires a valid official ID, the person's CURP, and a biometric “proof‑of‑life” capture. Each adult can associate up to ten lines; minors cannot register a line in their own name and must be registered by a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult. After 1 July 2026, any unregistered line will be temporarily suspended, retaining only emergency calls (911) and government alerts until the owner completes the registration.

The measure, announced by the Agency for Digital Transformation and Telecommunications (ATDT), aims to curb crimes such as extortion, fraud and harassment carried out through mobile devices by improving traceability of callers.
