Mexico mining industry calls for investment certainty amid job losses

Raúl García, newly elected president of the Asociación de Ingenieros de Minas, Metalurgistas y Geólogos de México (AIMMGM), said the sector needs stable, predictable policies to protect its 232,000 workers and attract investment. He urged closer collaboration between mining firms and all levels of government, emphasizing the role of minerals in Mexico’s economic growth and energy transition.

The mining community is also warning that job losses, especially in exploration, are increasing uncertainty for families dependent on the industry. Industry leaders are pressing for clear regulations, innovation support and training programs to sustain operations and secure future development.
