Mexico: Morena legislators clash over alleged debt vote and budget claims

Morena deputy Naty Poob Pijy Jiménez (Oaxaca) criticised PT deputy Reginaldo Sandoval for presenting the state's public finances out of context, alleging that the 34.6 billion‑peso budget for Oaxaca's 570 municipalities was being portrayed as a political virtue rather than reflecting the federal fiscal coordination model.

In a separate dispute, Morena deputy María Antonieta Pérez Reyes refuted accusations by state secretary general Santiago de la Peña and fellow deputy Rosana Díaz that she voted in favour of a 3 billion‑peso debt package for Chihuahua. Pérez Reyes presented the official voting record showing she voted against the measure and explained that an initial electronic report listing her as supportive was the result of a technical error by the parliamentary affairs office. She described the statements as a political strategy to support the newly aligned PRIAN bloc.
