Mexico municipal authorities provide relief for disaster victims

Various municipal authorities in Mexico are providing relief and support following recent disasters and economic initiatives. In Pedro Escobedo, Querétaro, officials delivered roofing sheets, mattresses, and food supplies to families in Ajuchitlancito after intense hail and rain damaged several homes. The municipality also distributed laying hens and agrochemicals to local producers to bolster food security and the agricultural economy.

In Cuernavaca, the local government approved a 5 million peso fund to assist victims of an LP gas tanker explosion in the Las Granjas neighborhood. The blast damaged 34 homes, three of which are uninhabitable, and injured 22 people. Affected families will receive a one-time payment of 10,000 pesos, while business owners may qualify for up to 50,000 pesos in additional aid. One 15-year-old victim was airlifted to a specialized hospital in the United States for burn treatment. Legal and administrative investigations are ongoing against the tanker owner, Tomza-Gas Titanium.
