Mexico Wins First Archery World Cup Medal in Madrid

Mexico secured its inaugural Archery World Cup podium finish on 15 September 2026, earning a silver medal in the women's compound team event in Madrid. The medal was won by María José Rojas, Laura Vélez and Alejandra Mendoza, who trailed the Chinese team by twelve points.

The achievement follows the recent addition of two athletes, Dafne Quintero and Ana Paula Vázquez, to the Mexican roster for the World Cup Final to be hosted in Mexico in September. Their inclusion expands the national team to four qualified archers and reflects a broader surge in Mexican archery performance across recent World Cup stages in Puebla, Turkey, China and Madrid.

The historic silver is expected to boost funding for the sport, aid qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and underline Mexico’s growing presence in international archery.
