Mexico national football teams face mixed results in international fixtures

The Mexico men's national football team suffered its first defeat under manager Rafael Márquez, losing 3-0 to the United States in a friendly match held in Arizona on October 3. Márquez attributed the loss to defensive errors, specifically noting that goalkeeper Raúl “Tala” Rangel’s mistakes “almost gave them three goals.” Despite the result, Márquez described the loss as “part of the process” and emphasized the need for self-criticism as the team prepares for the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals in November.

On the women's side, the Mexico national team is scheduled to face Jamaica in a preparation match for the CONCACAF W Championship 2026. The game will take place on Tuesday, October 13, at Estadio La Corregidora. This follows a recent 3-4 loss to Jamaica in Aguascalientes on October 9. The women's squad is currently preparing for the upcoming championship in the United States, which serves as a pathway to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
