Secretaría de Marina denies conspiracy claims in Carlos Manzo case

The Mexican Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) and the Michoacán Secretariat of Public Security have categorically denied claims made by journalist Anabel Hernández regarding the 2025 assassination of former Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo.

In a video published on her YouTube channel, Narcosistema, Hernández alleged that naval intelligence reports indicated a conspiracy involving organized crime, Michoacán state officials, and members of the Morena party in the killing of Manzo. The Navy issued a statement declaring, “The Secretariat of the Navy categorically denies being the source of the information mentioned in that video and denies that there are institutional reports from this Department that support what is expressed therein.”

Juan Manzo Rodríguez, the brother of the deceased mayor and current Undersecretary of Government in Michoacán, also criticized the claims, describing them as lacking journalistic rigor. Authorities emphasized that official information is only disseminated through institutional channels and urged the public to verify information through official sources to avoid the spread of inaccurate data.
