Mexico needs investment recovery to boost growth, says IMEF
Gabriela Gutiérrez Mora, president of the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF), has emphasized the urgent need to recover investment to boost Mexico's economic growth, which currently remains below its potential. During a joint conference with the Mexican Institute of Public Accounting (IMCP), she noted that while the USMCA provides a platform for growth, it requires legal certainty, infrastructure, and increased productivity to effectively drive investment.
Gutiérrez Mora highlighted that the Mexican economy has shown resilience but continues to face challenges. The IMEF indicator, which monitors manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors, has shown signs of stagnation, remaining in contraction territory for the past 20 months. Additionally, investment has been inhibited for over 25 months, and private consumption has experienced a weak recovery.
