Mexico opposition alliance could defeat MORENA in eight states
In Mexico, an opposition alliance involving the PAN, PRI, and other local political forces could potentially defeat the ruling MORENA party in eight states during the 2027 elections. While the state apparatus provides MORENA with significant resources, historical precedents from the 2021 elections show that pragmatic alliances between non-aligned parties can successfully challenge the ruling party's majority.
Political analysts note that Movimiento Ciudadano's refusal to form alliances has previously benefited MORENA, as seen in the State of Mexico. However, the political landscape is shifting; for instance, in Aguascalientes, the PAN holds 41.8 percent of the intended vote, which could secure a victory if joined by Movimiento Ciudadano.
