Mexico passenger rail services report high ridership in Estado de México

During her second government report, President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted the success of major passenger rail projects in the State of Mexico. The El Insurgente Interurban Train has surpassed 25 million passengers since its launch, serving approximately 140,000 daily users on its 58-kilometer route connecting Mexico City with the Toluca Valley.

Additionally, the Felipe Ángeles-Buenavista Train has transported 3.6 million passengers during its initial months of operation. This service connects the municipalities of Tultitlán, Tultepec, Nextlalpan, and Zumpango with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), offering a 39-minute travel time between Buenavista and the airport.

These rail projects are part of a broader national strategy to construct over 3,000 kilometers of tracks to improve connectivity, reduce travel costs, and promote economic development through zero-emission electric units.
