Mexico: Pet sterilization efforts and educational disruptions

In Fresnillo, Zacatecas, health authorities have performed nearly 800 pet sterilizations this year to combat animal overpopulation and public health issues. Dr. Rosa María Cerda Luna noted that while campaigns will continue through October, officials are calling for higher citizen participation to ensure available slots are utilized.

Meanwhile, educational institutions in Mexico are facing disruptions. At the Instituto Tecnológico de Orizaba, students have occupied facilities, demanding responses to a 35-point petition. They have rejected proposals from the Tecnológico Nacional de México to reopen the campus before addressing their core administrative and personnel demands.

In a separate labor dispute, the Instituto Tecnológico Superior is experiencing a strike that has left over 1,000 students without classes. Negotiations between the teachers' union and the administration regarding the Collective Bargaining Agreement are ongoing, with discussions focusing on unresolved points such as job placement issues.
