Mexico police official suspended after video shows party at station

The State of Mexico Security Secretariat (SSEM) has provisionally removed a high-ranking police officer from his duties following the circulation of a video on social media. The footage depicts the officer, identified in local reports as Pedro Iván Rendón Ávalos, wearing his uniform and appearing to be in an inebriated state while singing with a norteño musical group.

According to the SSEM, the incident occurred during working hours and within official police facilities in the eastern zone of the state. Rendón Ávalos reportedly served as the regional coordinator for the General Directorate of Combating Vehicle and Transport Theft.

The Internal Affairs Unit has launched an investigation to determine the exact location of the event, identify all participants, and establish whether public resources or facilities were used for the gathering. The SSEM stated it will pursue administrative procedures to address any violations of institutional functions or ethical principles.
