Mexico prepares for 2027 rollout of new Civil and Family Procedure Code

Mexico's new Código Nacional de Procedimientos Civiles y Familiares (CNPCF) is set to take effect by 1 April 2027, requiring states to align dozens of local statutes and modernize courtroom practices.

In Guerrero, magistrate Indalecia Pacheco León accused the state Congress of failing to allocate a budget for the code’s implementation and of treating the judiciary as subordinate, demanding a detailed report on the transition.

Meanwhile, Jalisco's executive branch convened a panel of regional universities—including the University of Guadalajara and Tecnológico de Monterrey—to harmonize roughly 97 local regulations, develop training programs, and ensure the new oral, digital, and transparent procedures are ready for launch. The reforms will affect everyday civil and family matters such as property disputes, inheritances, tenancy issues, custody and support cases.
