Mexico prepares major 2026 MICE events with sustainability focus

IBTM Americas will introduce the "Change Maker" program for its 2026 edition, scheduled for 19‑20 August at the Centro Banamex in Mexico City. The initiative requires exhibitors to meet at least three concrete actions across inclusion, carbon‑footprint reduction, or local‑economy support, with digital assessments and on‑site verification, and offers public recognition as sustainable brands.

Separately, the state of Guanajuato will host the XVI MPI Mexico Chapter National Congress from 15‑17 July 2026 in León. The three‑day gathering will bring together professional organizers, destination representatives, suppliers and buyers to discuss innovation, sustainability and networking, aiming to strengthen Guanajuato’s position as a leading meetings‑tourism destination and generate significant economic impact for the region.
