Mexico President Sheinbaum Says No Immunity for Officials Who Commit Crimes

President Claudia Sheinbaum said her administration will not grant any legal protection or privileged status to public servants who commit illegal acts, insisting that investigations will be carried out according to the law without special treatment.

Sheinbaum also stressed that “ni la amistad ni los cargos están por encima de la ley” after former Pemex chief Víctor Rodríguez Padilla was placed in preventive detention for alleged family and vicarious violence, reaffirming the government’s commitment to protect victims and uphold justice.
