Mexico prosecutor secures formal prison order for suspected human trafficking

The Attorney General's Office (FGR) in Mexico has obtained a formal prison order for Ana “N” on suspicion of human trafficking for the purpose of slavery.

According to investigations, the accused and several accomplices allegedly used in-person courses and the internet to recruit individuals of various nationalities into an organization. Once recruited, victims were reportedly required to make donations or payments in exchange for promised miracles and healings. The investigation claims victims were subjected to labor exploitation and held in slavery under unsanitary conditions.

Following an arrest by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Crimes of Violence Against Women, Vulnerable Groups, and Human Trafficking (FEVIMTRA), a federal judge in Tamaulipas issued the formal prison order. Ana “N” is currently held at the Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 16 “CPS Femenil Morelos”.
