Mexico President defends increase to Non-Resident Fee

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has defended a recent increase to the Non-Resident Fee (DNR), which will raise the cost for certain foreign visitors from 983 to 1,158 pesos. Despite warnings from the tourism sector that the hike could harm Mexico's competitiveness, Sheinbaum stated that studies suggest minimal impact and emphasized that the additional revenue is intended to strengthen the National Institute of Migration.

In Chihuahua, political tensions continue as the Morena party occupied the legislative rostrum following disputes over parliamentary participation. Meanwhile, the PAN party has begun the registration process for municipal candidates in several key cities, including Chihuahua and Juárez. Additionally, former State Attorney General César Jáuregui has addressed recent investigations, defending past operations against drug laboratories while asserting his status as a witness rather than a suspect.
