Mexico pushes ahead with major road upgrades in State of Mexico and Veracruz
The State of Mexico announced that reconstruction of the 39.7‑km Ocoyoacac‑Tenango highway is 82 % complete and is slated for inauguration in July. The upgrade, which includes resurfacing, new asphalt, and improved signage, is expected to cut travel times by up to 40 minutes for the roughly 80 000 vehicles that use the route daily and to benefit about 192 000 residents of the Valle de Toluca and surrounding municipalities.
In Veracruz, Governor Rocío Nahle García opened the second stage of the 7.6‑km Tecamalucan‑Tepachapa road in the Sierra de Zongolica. The concrete highway will enhance mobility for thousands of people traveling to schools, health centers, workplaces and markets, and improve safety during the rainy season. The project is funded through the Fondo de Aportaciones para la Infraestructura Social and is part of a broader strategy to support indigenous communities and local agriculture.
Both projects aim to strengthen regional connectivity, stimulate economic activity, and improve access to essential services.
