Mexico-Querétaro train construction accident investigation
An investigation into the October 17 accident during the Mexico-Querétaro train construction in Agua Azul, El Marqués, has attributed the incident to human error. Technical and legal inquiries by the vehicle's insurer determined that the operator's oversight caused a personnel transport truck to fall into an eight-meter-deep ditch.
The accident resulted in two fatalities and 22 injuries. While 16 individuals have been discharged, several remain hospitalized. The Mexican Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), which is responsible for the railway construction, has confirmed it will cover indemnities for the families of the deceased and provide support to the injured.
The incident has sparked political debate. While some officials have called for increased supervision and transparency regarding subcontractor safety protocols, the construction consortium noted that the vehicle involved had active insurance coverage to manage medical expenses and funeral costs.
