Mexico ranks second at Iberoamerican Mathematics Olympiad

Mexico secured second place among 21 participating nations at the 41st Iberoamerican Mathematics Olympiad held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from September 6 to 12. Brazil finished in first place, while Spain took third.

The Mexican delegation earned a total of four medals: two gold and two silver. Gold medalists Takumi Higashida Martínez and Javier Caram Quirós are from Mexico City. Silver medalists Iker Torres Terrazas from Chihuahua and Juan Luis Manríquez Sequera from Baja California Sur also contributed to the team's success.

The competition involved 83 pre-university students who solved six original problems created by specialists. The team was selected and prepared by the Mexican Mathematics Olympiad (OMM), a program of the Mexican Mathematical Society. The delegation received support from Casa Córdoba Filantropía and Banco Plata for this competition.
