Mexico regional updates: hospital readiness and migrant representation
In Mexico City, PAN deputy Ricardo Rubio Torres has proposed an evaluation of the capital's hospital readiness to respond to emergencies and disasters, such as major earthquakes. Rubio urged the Mexico City Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection to verify existing response mechanisms and ensure the continuity of medical services through the 'Safe Hospital Program'. The proposal emphasizes the need for precise data on hospital capacity, including bed availability, operating rooms, medical staff, medications, oxygen, and electricity.
In the state of Morelos, residents living abroad are organizing to seek migrant legislative representation in the 2027 elections. While the current electoral framework in Morelos does not include a migrant deputy position, officials are analyzing the possibility of implementing this through affirmative action. Currently, Morelos citizens living abroad can participate in elections in other Mexican states that already recognize this right, such as Mexico City, Guerrero, Jalisco, and Oaxaca. Official data indicates approximately 11,000 active voter registrations for Morelos citizens in the United States.
