Ecatepec police and Mexican Navy dismantle 64 illegal surveillance cameras

Municipal police in Ecatepec, State of Mexico, together with the Marine Task Force and the State Prosecutor's Office, carried out an operation in the Los Héroes neighbourhood that removed 64 clandestine video‑surveillance cameras installed on public infrastructure. The operation, part of the municipal Integrated Public Security Strategy, brings the total number of illegal devices taken down since the current administration began to 444.

In the port city of Lázaro Cárdenas, authorities also removed four so‑called “parásita” cameras that had been installed without authorization. Both actions are aimed at eliminating unlawful monitoring of public spaces and preventing misuse of surveillance equipment.

The removals are justified by violations of several Mexican laws, including the Federal Telecommunications and Broadcasting Law and the State of Mexico’s public‑security statutes.
