Mexico reports 37 search actions in Ayotzinapa case

In her second government report, President Claudia Sheinbaum detailed ongoing efforts regarding the Ayotzinapa case, nearly 12 years after the disappearance of 43 students from the Raúl Isidro Burgos Rural Normal School. Between September 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, federal authorities and the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) conducted 37 search actions in the municipalities of Iguala de la Independencia, Cocula, and Eduardo Neri.

These operations involved intervening in 518 sites of interest to locate the missing students and gather new evidence. The report also noted that the federal government held three high-level meetings with the parents and legal representatives of the students to provide updates on the investigation. Additionally, the government provided 170 instances of medical, psychological, and rehabilitation services to the families as part of the 'Truth and Justice for the 43 Disappeared Students' commitment.
