Mexico reports dengue cases in State of Mexico and Sinaloa, ramps up prevention
The State of Mexico (Edomex) health authorities announced five dengue cases, three with warning signs and two non‑severe, across municipalities in the southern “tierra caliente” region such as Luvianos and Tlatlaya. Officials are conducting cleaning campaigns, discarding potential breeding containers, and preparing to acquire fumigation equipment to curb mosquito spread as the rainy season begins.
In the municipality of Ahome, Sinaloa, health officials confirmed 139 dengue cases, the latest detected in the Scally neighborhood of Los Mochis. The local health director outlined a schedule of fumigations and larvicide applications for several neighborhoods throughout mid‑June, and reported the collection of roughly 10 tons of discarded containers to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. Residents have been urged to keep premises clean and eliminate standing water.
Both regions are intensifying vector‑control measures to prevent further transmission of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
