Mexico reports identity fraud, highway robbery, and bar explosion
Several criminal incidents have been reported in Mexico. Businessman Arturo Elías Ayub issued an alert regarding identity theft and fraud. Criminals are using AI-generated content and fake websites to simulate a false attack against him on Reforma Avenue in Mexico City, aiming to trick followers into providing money or personal information.
Content creator Nando de Ibarrondo and his wife reported an armed robbery on the Mexico-Puebla highway. The couple was targeted after a tire puncture, allegedly caused by a 'ponchallantas' device. Armed men stole electronics, wallets, and vehicle keys, and forced the victims to unlock their devices to access bank accounts.
In Mexico City, an explosion occurred outside Bar Dua on Avenida Juárez. While initially reported as a fire, authorities confirmed the detonation of a device. Preliminary investigations suggest the explosion may be linked to a physical conflict between business partners that occurred the previous day. No injuries were reported.
